The replies to this are coming from people who don’t understand what X-Men is about fundamentally
Also v interesting how we see Wolverine kills everyone who has ever wronged him in the movies and it doesn’t produce even a fraction of the backlash this seems to have 🤔
more superheroes should be like rogue and logan actually! im tired of the whole “im better than him” speeches when it comes to confronting the villain LIKE WE DONT CARE JUST END IT
#XMen97
Muting this but to clarify a couple things:
I know the show treats this like a bad thing, and I’m sure she will reflect on this moment when she’s not grieving.
I don’t think all superhero characters should kill indiscriminately, but I really like this moment for Rogue
@616rachelsummer
Same people who’re shitting themselves in excitement for Murder: The Movie with Deadpool and Wolverine are somehow really angry at Rogue for killing a genocider lol
@ChampagnePuthy
Right so when Wolverine and Deadpool have a double/triple digit body count I’m expecting all these people to write essays about how terrible and irresponsible it is to let kids see it in theaters
@616rachelsummer
The people Wolverine kills generally aren't repentant, or mind-controlled, and are literally in the middle of trying to kill him right back when he kills them.
@reedy_moss
Yes but I’m saying this type of conflict is nothing new to X-Stories. Scott said it to Trish Tilby: It’s frustrating playing politic when you know you have the power to kill every human if you really wanted to. This is one of the central themes of X-Men and we’re getting it here.
@616rachelsummer
People hate women existing let alone doing anything.
Also, it's wildly out of character for both Rogue and Wolverine. Wolverine is a murderer but he doesn't want other people to go down his bloody path.
(Couldn't find a better example than this but my point stands.)
@WilhelmArnesen
I appreciate the Rachel mention haha
Rogue is grieving. I’m not a 97 fan boy but I love that Rogue is allowed to make this dramatic choice. It’s very X-Men and speaks to the feelings of oppressed people everywhere.
We still have half the season for her to likely reflect on it
@616rachelsummer
Wolverine isn't a hero, he is a soldier.
He tries to play by the rules when within the X Men because they need to show the world mutants aren't a threat to them. But that's not who he is at his core.
See, characteristics matter.
@Vince_WF
Wolverine is a hero, and he has had 6 X-Men movies centered around him for that reason.
Rogue also has darker impulses, and in her grief killed a man (who turned out to be a robot) responsible for genocide and people are stuck on it, even if it’s an interesting character choice
@616rachelsummer
When this happened my brother remarked that if it had been the other way round, if rogue had died and gambit dropped trask’s ass from the building, he doubted the backlash to this would have been as loud
@616rachelsummer
Also the original series was on network television they couldn’t push the envelope and Rogue always had a slight dark side being she started as a villain. After almost killing Carol Danvers did her personality become conflicted but you think she wasn’t going to nut up over the…
@616rachelsummer
They built up for this moment and earned it. Rouge anger is the embodiment of mutant rage. Most of the X-Men are questioning their beliefs of tolerance leading up to this scene. So when they see rouge cross this line,they are not necessarily angered but…just shocked
@616rachelsummer
I didn’t want Rogue to do it because she is angry and not in her usual state of mind. She is a passionate caring person so I just didn’t want that for her. That being said get it. All of the members of the team have their own specific morality
