Laddie Boy, President Harding’s beloved Airedale Dog, has been waiting at the White House windows for his master to return. Nobody is able to communicate to him that Harding has died.
Laddie Boy has been a pampered pup throughout Harding’s presidency. He has been honored at parades and ceremonies; fed the finest foods; and visited by distinguished dignitaries.
Now, his fate is uncertain. He may even be put down.
Laddie Boy, President Harding’s dog, is the honored guest of today’s “Be Kind to Animals” parade in Washington, DC. He has a distinguished seat on a float and is deemed “Master of the Hounds.”
At the very least, Laddie Boy hasn’t ended up like Abraham Lincoln’s dog, Fido, who was famously assassinated six months after his master by a lunatic who stabbed him to death then told police he “wanted to finish the job.”
